"The Witches' Poison Apple"

This adorable little bi-tone has one quality I've never seen in any other of my daylilies. In 2012 we had a horribly dry and hot summer which broke records in both categories. I remember one period that it reached 111 degrees for 3 days in a row. With those temps you just don't expect to be excited by the daylily bloom. Add no rain for 2 months and you have a recipe for disaster. However, I was walking the beds one evening, it was sill over 100 degrees, when I noticed this little daylily that seemed to be totally unaffected by the temps or the dryness. At those temps it was holding up beautifully which completely astonished me. I immediately marked it to keep and the rest is History. A daylily that looks perfectly fine in over 100 degree temps!!! Well "The Witch's Poison Apple' is that daylily. Perhaps it had a spell cast on it. Add this one to the collection and you know you will see at least one good daylily blooming no matter the conditions..
